Dr. Barbara Pezzanite is an Animal Behavior Society Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB), a CoreCAAB member, a professor of Psychology at Farmingdale State College in Farmingdale, New York, and is affiliated with the Town of Southampton’s Animal Shelter. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from The Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York, sub-specializing in Biopsychology, Neuropsychology, Animal Behavior, and Behavioral Ecology. Dr. Pezzanite’s doctoral dissertation research was conducted in the Canadian Arctic, examining long-term changes in the feeding behavior of Lesser Snow Geese, and differences in foraging behavior between Lesser Snow Geese and Ross’s Geese. She is a graduate of the ASPCA’s two-year postdoctoral residency in the Animal Behavior Center.

As a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist (CAAB), Dr. Pezzanite runs a house call based consulting practice for residents of Long Island, Queens, and Manhattan, helping companion animal owners resolve their dog's and cat's serious behavioral problems. She conducts behavior evaluations for dog bite cases, and has served as a behavior expert on cases involving dog attacks to people and other animals. Dr. Pezzanite’s has made a number of TV appearances that are listed on her website.
